496 Developing ECO Content for Websites
These panels from a prototype microsite for Wells Fargo Bank demonstrate storytelling techniques for website landing pages. Robert Lundahl & Associates, LLC [RL | A ECO] was approached to develop environmental content in the vein of the “Digital Journey” programs the company had previously delivered for client Sun Microsystems. Characteristic of the “Digital Journey” effort was the development of content which offers a surprise conclusion or “destination.” Similarly these stories from Wells Fargo’s portfolio derive meaning from the implications of the story.

A Good (Green) Idea.
In the race to develop zero pollution vehicles, fuel cells have played an increasingly important role. Technically speaking, a fuel cell is an electrochemical conversion device. An external supply of fuel, typically methanol, natural gas, or hydrogen is used. In the case of a hydrogen fuel, electrons are decoupled from their protons and forced through an insulated membrane. Oxygen molecules react with the protons and electrons to produce water, the only byproduct of the process. The energy released is stored in a battery.
While public buses have proven themselves as test platforms in the development of automotive fuel cells, public policy is now encouraging the commercialization and deployment of fuel cell buses on the nations streets. That’s why Wells Fargo’s recent $45 mil. U.S.D. public project and transportation infrastructure funding initiative will result in lower fossil fuel costs for municipalities, and advances for sustainable transportation.

Looking Beneath the Surface.
In Hyderabad, India, a “farmer” made of vegetables is the star attraction at a trade show here. The “farmer” symbolizes the importance of agriculture in this drought stricken region. When the state government of Andhra Pradesh sought to relieve the farmers’ plight, bringing precious water to 300,000 acres of farmland and 516 villages, it appeared the pipeline needed to transverse rare tiger habitat. Would this be a case of tigers vs. farmers?
The Robbins Company of Solon, Ohio was selected for the job. Known as the world’s leading manufacturer of hard rock tunnel boring machines, hopes were high that a pipeline under the tiger reserve could deliver water while protecting the animals. But Robbins needed a larger loan than their regular bank could provide. The company found its solution with the Export Import Bank of the United States guaranteeing a loan from Wells Fargo. Solutions to problems can sometimes be found by looking just beneath the surface.
